Poem: Distant Friends
A heartfelt reflection on friendship’s endurance—how love, loyalty, and cherished memories keep us connected, even as distance and time challenge the bonds we once took for granted.
We used to share our joys and sorrows,
Our hopes and fears, our dreams and plans.
We used to walk the same path together,
But now we live in distant lands.
We rarely see each other’s faces,
We rarely hear each other’s voices.
We only write some words on screens,
And try to bridge the gaps between.
But words are not enough to capture,
The depth and richness of our souls.
They cannot convey the subtle nuances,
That make us whole.
We miss the warmth of our embraces,
The sparkle of our eyes, the laughter of our mouths.
We miss the moments of silence and understanding,
The bond that nothing could break or douse.
We wonder if we still know each other,
If we still care, if we still matter.
We wonder if our friendship can survive,
The test of time and distance and the changes in our lives.
But we do not give up on friendship,
We do not let it fade or die.
We cherish every memory and every message,
We keep each other in our hearts and minds.
We know that friendship is not measured,
By frequency or proximity or quantity.
It is measured by quality and sincerity and loyalty,
It is measured by love.
And we love each other still, my friends,
No matter how far or how long we are apart.
We love each other with a love that never ends,
A love that fills and heals and lifts our hearts.
